Friendship Partner Program
ISI Chicago’s Friendship Partner Program matches you with an American friend. Our volunteers are Christian men, women, and families from throughout the Chicago area, who have asked to have an international student friend like you! The program is designed to be intentional about developing friendship, but also very flexible. Your American friend will contact you regularly and will arrange to meet with you at times convenient to both of you. You will have an opportunity to:
Develop a true friendship with an American
Visit an American home
Share an American meal
Enjoy (and practice) conversation in English
Learn about American daily life and values
Here are your requirements for this program:
1) You must be a current student;
2) You must agree to make a sincere effort to meet with your American friend, and to respond to their friendship. They are giving up their time to help you know Americans better. If you fail to meet with them, or fail to respond to their emails or phone calls, this discourages them so that they may not participate in the future with other students. As with busy people everywhere, they will find other things to do!
